Have been to the mangrove, done zonation at rocky shores and sandy shores, and lots of other things. I'll post pictures for you as soon as I can. I'm back at Pom Pom now …

Can you tell us a little bit about your experiences in Ghana? My time in Ghana has been an adventure. What I hoped to achieve and what I actually gain was quite different. I thought that working within the medical field would help me understand what it means to be a doctor or some care giver. Initially that is what I learned, but I also learned the difficulties …

Volunteers stay on the game reserve to take part in our “Black Rhino, elephant and big cat research project” and get their clicking fingers in motion as part of our “Photography and conservation project”. As usual the volunteers have been busy, but have spared us a little time for an update, and have filled us in with what they have …

There are some people who wonders why I care so much about marine conservation and the protection of all species, on land and ocean. If those people would have been here today they would have had an true feeling about that what we work for do make a difference. If more of us get involved than we can make a change to the better. The late nights of turtle walks to collect turlte …

created on: Aug 20, 2012 | Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

Today I got to help out with coral planting. We used soft corals that we attached to small (12x12 cm) cement discs with a rubber band and put them carefully down in our coral garden. It was really nice to be able to help out even though it was hard work to, the current was medium strong and for me as a beginner diver it took some time before I learned …

Today I had my first so called work day as a diver, well actually the others did most of the work while I took a couple of photos and practiced on my bouyancy skills, but I did manage to help out a little at least. Amelie was my diving buddy and she was great and really helped to give me confidence. I'm still a bit nervous in the water so it's …

Yesterday me and two of the turtle volonteers went into Semporna for some R&R, it was wonderful. I had a long hot shower, ate pizza and had myself a beer. It's strange how you appreciate these small things when you live on an island without these luxuries The pizza was so good, Scuba Junky was the place. We stayed at Sipadan Inn and it was really nice. I had a standard room, …

Yesterday was blistering hot, not a cloud in site and no wind at all. Me and two of the turtle volonteers David and George, together with Professor Steves son Jack was snorkeling for hours. There was an amazing variety of corals, sponges, anemones, fish, sea urchins etc. …
